We understand that teachers are crucial to the success of our students and schools, and play a key role in bringing to fruition Lighthouse Learning’s Child First Policy.

We are driven forward by well-trained teachers who are committed, passionate about the work they do, and have the skills required to lead our programme. Our overriding focus is that all training endeavours must ultimately result in improved student learning outcomes. To that extent, we deem a teacher effective only if their work leads to improved student outcomes – both tangibly and intangibly.

OUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME IS DESIGNED:

  • To ensure that all teachers are trained to deliver effective teaching
  • To raise the competency level of teachers
  • To optimise learning outcomes
  • To ensure that all teachers confirm to required standards and standardisation across our network
  • To ensure continuous and comprehensive training every academic year

THE LIGHTHOUSE LEARNING 60 -
HOUR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME

  • Teacher training is done at two levels
  • Centralised training by the school development team
  • Specific training by individual school principals

The centralised training programme is designed and rolled out by the School Development team in collaboration with the Cerebrum team and the school teams.

This would be either face-to-face or online. It includes mandatory training modules that are decided every year based on identified training needs. Every topic for training has to align itself to one of the seven identified competencies:

This ensures that our teachers are set up for success not only for learners, but in their careers as well.

Curious. Brilliant. Versatile.

Our learners are at the heart of everything we do at Lighthouse Learning, and yet none of it would be possible without the inspiration of our teaching fraternity. We exist for them, with them and through them.
